Moss Vale Services Club

The Moss Vale Services Club bar redevelopment was conceived as a high-performance service hub to elevate the guest experience, streamline bar workflow, and modernise the club’s hospitality offering. With dual street frontage and peak-period surges during events, raffles, and weekend dining, the project required a bar that could serve quickly, move intuitively, and operate seamlessly throughout the day and into late-night service.

CONCEPT

The concept centred on positioning the bar as the club’s visual and operational anchor. Workshops identified the need for a long, linear counter that could manage high volumes efficiently while remaining welcoming to walk-ins from both Argyle and Yarrawa Streets. The design intent was simple but ambitious: modernise the club atmosphere, streamline operations, and create a bar that could transition seamlessly from daytime families to evening crowds.

SCHEMATIC

During the schematic phase, the bar was divided into dedicated zones: beverage prep, POS stations, glass washing, refrigerated storage, backbar display, and bartender circulation lanes. CAD planning established optimal distances between ice wells, speed rails, fridges, and sinks to support fast service during peak trading. Early 3D visuals helped the client envision seating arrangements, from high-tops and bar stools to booth clusters, ensuring guest experience and staff workflow aligned without bottlenecks.

MOSSVALE FINAL

IMPLEMENTATION

Implementation focused on technical coordination and detailed specification. Commercial bar equipment, under-bar refrigeration, lighting, and acoustics were refined to support club events and high-volume nights. Detailed drawings captured finishes, joinery construction, flooring treatments, and mechanical services. The team coordinated with local authorities in Moss Vale to secure the necessary building and planning approvals, ensuring compliance with Southern Highlands standards for ventilation, fire safety, and accessibility.

FINALISATION

The project concluded with a coordinated tender process, on-site construction oversight, and staged installation of fixtures and bar equipment. Once operational systems were tested—including drainage, refrigeration load, and service clearances—the final inspections confirmed compliance and readiness. Staff were trained on the new workflow, stock placement, and service pathways, allowing the club to reopen with a streamlined bar experience that dramatically improves speed, comfort, and atmosphere for guests and staff alike.

Project Details

The Moss Vale Services Club required a bar that could elevate the guest experience while solving long-standing operational inefficiencies. The previous setup lacked clarity of movement, resulting in crowded bartender lanes and slow service during peak hours. By re-centring the bar within the floor plan, the new layout acts as a 360-degree service core, allowing staff to pivot quickly between high-demand zones.

A new backbar system consolidates spirits, glassware, refrigeration, and POS equipment into intuitive clusters, reducing unnecessary steps and enhancing workflow consistency. Lighting was layered to support both daytime dining and evening ambience, while acoustics were refined to balance live events and quieter service periods.

The bar’s proximity to both main entrances supports smoother traffic flow and better queuing behaviour, ensuring guests are greeted with an immediate visual cue for service. The final space blends club heritage with contemporary hospitality design; robust, efficient, and crafted for long-term adaptability.
