Inaburra Preschool

A purpose-designed commercial kitchen created to support safe, hygienic, and efficient meal production within a child-focused learning environment. The brief called for a layout that prioritised hygiene, operational efficiency, and ease of use by a small staff team — all within a compact footprint suited to an early learning environment.

CANTEEN LAYOUT

CONCEPT

The concept establishes a kitchen layout centred on child-safe workflow separation, strict hygiene control, and efficient movement for educators and staff preparing meals.

MBC IMPLEMENTATION

SCHEMATIC

Early schematic zoning defines raw and cooked areas, allergen-sensitive prep spaces, cool/dry storage, and wash-up zones to ensure clear separation and compliance with early-learning food safety requirements.

MBC IMPLEMENTATION 1

IMPLEMENTATION

Technical development refines equipment specifications, ergonomic bench heights, plumbing and electrical coordination, and risk-reduction features such as controlled-access storage and compliant ventilation.

Project Details

The commercial kitchen for Inaburra Preschool has been designed with a strong emphasis on child safety, food hygiene, and operational clarity. The layout divides the room into distinct functional zones (receiving, dry storage, refrigeration, preparation, cooking, plating, and washing) to eliminate cross-contamination risks and streamline the daily meal cycle. Clear workflow direction keeps clean and dirty processes separate, ensuring staff can move efficiently through the space while maintaining strict food-safety standards recommended for early-learning environments. Workstations and equipment are positioned to support ergonomic, visibility, and ease-of-use requirements for educators and kitchen staff. Benchtop heights reduce manual handling strain, while accessible storage helps staff maintain order during peak times. Additional design considerations—such as proper ventilation, handwashing basins positioned for frequent use, and compliant waste-management systems—help ensure the kitchen operates smoothly in a facility serving young children.

Space planning also accommodates essential commercial-grade appliances, with thoughtful integration of plumbing and electrical services to maintain long-term reliability. The final result is a safe, efficient, and well-organised kitchen that enables consistent preparation of nutritious meals in a regulated, child-centric environment.
